A four-year-old girl was killed and her mother injured on Thursday in an Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip that targeted Palestinian activists after a rocket killed an Israeli, medics said. The two were outside their house near Khan Yunes in southern Gaza when a drone fired a missile after apparently targeting armed militants in the area, witnesses said, according to AFP.
The Khan Yunes hospital identified the girl as Aya Al-Manjar and said her mother was critically wounded. "The air force conducted a raid and fired at Palestinian gunmen," an Israeli military spokeswoman said. According to her, the attack targeted the area from which Palestinian gunners earlier fired rockets that slammed into a kibbutz in southern Israel, killing a 51 year old man and wounding four.
In the West Bank, a Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron on Thursday, Palestinian emergency edical services said. Adham Al-Rajabi, 22, was a member of one of two family clans who have been involved in armed violence in a Hebron neighbourhood, locals said. An Israeli military spokesman confirmed that troops "fired at three armed Palestinians, who were hit."
In another development four Palestinians -- two of them women -- were wounded by Israeli gunfire in clashes in Beit Ommar north of Hebron. A military spokesman said the soldiers opened fire after Palestinians hurled petrol bombs at them.
