Two massive oil tankers collided early Monday 15 miles off the United Arab Emirates port of Fujairah in the Gulf of Oman, oil sources said.
British Vigilance, which was empty, and Stena King, which was laden with oil, were still touching each other and tugs are attempting to separate them, a Dubai-based oil trader said on condition of anonymity, according to AP.
Fujairah port's harbormaster would not provide details of the collision, saying only that he was "in the middle of operations."
The extent of the damage was unclear, and it was not known if any of the oil had spilled out, the trader said.
British Vigilance was steaming toward Dubai for repairs when the collision occurred. (Albawaba.com)
