Two U.S. marines have been killed and three people wounded when a helicopter crashed in a region west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Thursday.
It added the helicopter was flying in support of "security and stabilisation operations" in al-Anbar province on Wednesday night when it came down. No "enemy fire" was observed in the vicinity of the aircraft, it added.
"The cause of the mishap is currently under investigation," the military said in a statement.
Earlier, an Islamist Web site carried a videotape Wednesday that appeared to show Iraqis beheading a man they identified as a CIA agent. The authenticity of the videotape could not be verified immediately. A U.S. official, speaking to The AP, said CIA officials have accounted for all employees and no one is missing. (Albawaba.com)
