Two Libyan soldiers were killed while ten others wounded Thursday in Benghazi after troops pushed ahead against jihadists, Reuters reports.
Libyan government troops backed by armed locals have been fighting to recapture the country’s second largest city since militants overran it a year ago.
Security forces attempted on Thursday to take a closed commercial port where Islamists hold positions, according to Reuters.
“The air force bombed terrorist targets in Sabri,” said military spokesman Nasser al-Hassi.
Armed groups have been battling with government forces since the ousting and killing of Moammar Gaddafi in 2011.
