Hezbollah captured more positions from militants in the besieged Syrian border city of Zabadani Friday, but lost two fighters in the battle, a source close to the group said.

The source told The Daily Star that Hezbollah seized two militant positions in Zabadani's southwest, one day after capturing the Barda Mosque and areas surrounding it.

Militant casualties in Friday's fighting were not immediately known.

Hezbollah and the Syrian army have been advancing in recent days in Zabadani's southwestern region after gaining control over large parts of the city and trapping rebels in the center.

Friday's deaths bring Hezbollah's toll to 21 in the month-long battle for control of the city, located just 8 kilometers from Lebanon's eastern border.
