Two Egyptian girls were trampled to death on Tuesday and another 12 wounded after fears that a quake was about to collapse their school sparked a stampede, according to police officials.
The casualties happened in a stairwell of the 1,000-strong secondary school in the poor Cairo suburb of al-Warrak as the students escaped the building in a state of panic, the police said, cited by AFP.
It was unclear what prompted the false alarm regarding the "earthquake". (Albawaba.com)
