Indonesian prosecutors on Thursday named two former Suharto-era ministers as corruption suspects in a case involving the award of four technical assistance contracts by the state oil company Pertamina.

Former coordinating minister for the economy and mines and energy minister Ginanjar Kartasasmita, and another former mines and energy minister, Ida Bagus Sujana, would be summonsed in connection with the case, attorney general's office spokesman Mulyoharjo (Eds: one name) told journalists.

Ginanjar is accused of causing losses to the state of 18 million dollars, and Sujarna 6.8 million dollars, Mulyoharjo said.

The contracts were awarded between 1993 and 1995.

Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid warned last month that his government was preparing to arrest "10 big corruptors" but Mulyoharjo made no mention of arrests.

On February 19, prosecutors named a half-brother of fallen dictator Suharto, Probosutejo, a suspect in a graft scandal and slapped a travel ban on his eldest daughter, Siti "Tutut" Hardiyanti Rukmana.

Tutut is accused of cheating the state of funds through a 605 million dollar Pertamina pipeline project which was abandoned in 1992.

Prosecutors have charged Probosutejo with duping the state into paying his company in excess of 49 billion rupiah (five million dollars) in the mid 1990s, for developing state industrial forest in South Kalimantan on Borneo island – JAKARTA (AFP)
