Two Egyptian police officers hunting the bombers who attacked the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh last month have been killed in the second blast in as many days in the Sinai peninsula. Two more officers were wounded in the landmine explosion, the Egyptian Interior Ministry stated Thursday.
"The forces were exposed to an explosion of two landmines ... which led to the martyrdom of two officers," a ministry statement has indicated, according to Reuters.
A blast caused by a landmine on Wednesday damaged an armoured vehicle and injured at least three policemen searching north-east Sinai for suspects in the Sharm el-Sheikh and other Sinai attacks.
Earlier this week, Egyptian security forces have launched an arrest campaign in a mountain area in the Sinai peninsula. The campaign targets the "Halal Mount" in northern Sinai.
