Police on Monday announced the arrest of two brothers who reportedly confessed to robbing, killing and then burning the body of a bank employee in his car in the Shafa Badran area in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
Issam Musa, 36, an employee at the Housing Bank for Trade and Finance, was found burned beyond recognition in the back seat of his car in a deserted area next to the Applied Sciences University, police sources told the Jordan Times.
“Our investigation led us to two brothers who knew the victim, and after monitoring and raiding one of the suspect's stores this morning, we found bank cards and other documents in their possession that belonged to the victim,” the source said.
He added that the two brothers, aged 25 and 26, confessed to luring the victim to their house in Jabal Nasser Sunday night and putting sleeping pills in his drink.
“The two slit his throat, stole his wallet and other valuable belongings, drove him to a deserted area in Shafa Badran and set his car ablaze,” the source said.
The authorities did not reveal how their investigation led them to the two brothers, citing “secrecy since the case is not being heard in the courts yet.”
According to the source, the suspects knew the victim because they were clients at the bank branch where the victim worked. The two befriended him, discovered that he had some money and planned to rob him.
“The brothers told interrogators that they were aiming to rob the victim of around JD10,000,” he said.
