Two Arab Israelis who were shot by police during violent demonstrations inside Israel on Sunday were declared dead on Monday, medical sources said.
Ahmed Ibrahim Jabarin, 20, died in hospital in Haifa after being shot in the eye with live ammunition during clashes in the Arab town of Umm el-Fahm.
The other victim was identified as Rami Hatim Gharrah, 21, who was fatally wounded outside his village of Jat, northeast of the coastal resort of Netanya.
Another Arab Israeli was killed Sunday in shooting by Israeli police near Umm el-Fahm, where several thousand people joined a demonstration to protest at Israeli repression in the Palestinian territories.
Witnesses said another six people were injured, one of them seriously, when police fired on demonstrators on Monday in the village of Kafr Kana northeast of Nazareth, the largest Arab town in Israel.
There were more violent confrontations in Um el-Fahm and an Israeli populated district near Nazareth.
The deaths brought to 39 the number of Palestinians and Israeli Arabs killed in violent confrontations since Thursday, sparked by the visit to Israeli right-wing leader Ariel Sharon to a religious site in Jerusalem held sacred by both Jews and Muslims – JERUSALEM (AFP)
