Turkish security forces have arrested 12 suspects in anti-terror raids in Istanbul early Tuesday morning.

Backed by helicopters, anti-terror police targeted 15 locations in the districts of Maltepe, Sancaktepe, Umraniye and Kartal on the Asian side of the city.

Reportedly looking for alleged members of the Marxist–Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) organization, security forces apprehended at least 12 people, including five women.

Arrests targeting the PKK, Daesh and other militant groups have been frequent in Turkey since last summer.
