Rockets fired by Daesh in northern Iraq on Saturday killed a Turkish soldier and wounded another during clashes with Iraqi Kurdish fighters, Reuters reported.
Turkey, a NATO member and part of the US-led coalition fighting Daesh, deployed troops to northern Iraq in December, where its soldiers have been training militia fighters to combat Daesh. Baghdad has vehemently objected to Turkey's deployment to Iraq.
Turkish daily Hurriyet quoted a statement from the Turkish military saying the army has fired artillery on Daesh targets, while additional targets have been struck by warplanes from Turkey and from the US-led coalition.
"Four Islamic State [Daesh] targets have been bombarded by warplanes from the coalition forces. An additional of four targets have been fired at intensely by Turkish warplanes and been destroyed," the military statement said.
