Turkish police Friday found a bomb in a car parked near a regional government office in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

Police sources told Anadolu Agency that a car laden with about 150 kg of explosives was found in front of Hurriyet Primary School, about 50 meters from the regional government office in the Diyarbakir province’s Hani district.

A ceremony marking Martyrs Remembrance Day and the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Canakkale was scheduled to be held Friday in the government office.

A bomb team successfully defused the explosive.

The news comes five days after a suicide car bomb attack claimed by PKK terrorist organization targeted Turkish capital Ankara's central transportation hub, killing 37 people and wounding scores of others.

The governor’s office has yet to issue a statement on the incident.

Sources said that an investigation to find the perpetrators continues.
