After a myriad of arrests, including his son, Turkey's interior minister says he has offered his resignation to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the recent corruption scandal.

Interior Minister Muammer Guler told the Anadolu Agency on Sunday that he is still awaiting Erdogan's decision on the resignation offer reported The Daily Star.

After investigation into corruption concerns, Guler's son, Baris, and the son of Turkey's economy minister were among the 24 people arrested in connection to bribery charges.

It is expected the Erdogen would be shifting his Cabinet in the coming days to replace three ministers who are running for mayoral posts during local elections in March. Reports said Erdogan is expected to expand the Cabinet shake-up to exclude Guler and other ministers associated with the scandal.

Erdogan has responded with distrust announcing that he thinks the corruption investigation is only an attempt to discredit his government.
