Turkish police have denied press reports that more than 10 people suspected in planning attacks against Israeli vacationers in Turkey are under investigation after being arrested by Turkish police in Istanbul and Antalya on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, press reports suggested that one of the detainees, reportedly of Syrian decent, is thought to have been behind the 2003 Istanbul bombings of the British Consulate, two synagogues and a British bank in which 60 people lost their lives.
Other detainees were reportedly pretending to be students at Turkish synagogues in preparation for the planned attacks. Israeli sources were quoted as saying Wednesday that the reports on the arrests were "not credible". Israel Army Radio, quoting secutiry sources, said that following the reports, that no official information was conveyed from Turkey regarding the issue.
5,000 Israelis on route to vacation in Turkey have been turned away from Turkey as warnings of possible attacks increased.
