ALBAWABA - Identified by Turkish authorities as Mossad's financial network manager, Istanbul police announced arresting Liridon Rexhepi, in what is suspected of espionage charges.
According to Daily Sabah, Rexhepi was transferring money to field agents who took part in filming Mossad targets in the country in addition to leading psychological operations against Palestinian politicians and gathering intelligence about the Syrian field.
Rexhepi was found by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) after they noticed irregularities in his bank records, which revealed that he was using Western Union to make many transfers to Mossad agents in Turkey.
On August 25, 2024, he was put under MIT surveillance as soon as he entered Turkey. On August 30, he was taken into custody in Istanbul as part of a coordinated operation with the Istanbul police.
MIT operations have shown that Mossad's field operatives in Turkey help them with their financial transactions by passing through Eastern European nations, particularly Kosovo.
The Daily Sabah reported that according to insiders, the Mossad operatives also send money from Kosovo to their Syrian suppliers, who they pay using cryptocurrencies.
Since January, Turkish authorities have detained, imprisoned, and accused a number of people of suspected connections to Israel's Mossad, with the majority of them being Turkish nationals. Seven people were captured in January, six were charged in March, and two more were arrested in April.
