Turkish Interior Minister Saadettin Tantan arrived in Tehran Tuesday at the head of a senior security delegation, for talks with Iranian officials on bolstering bilateral ties, reported the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
Upon arrival in Tehran, he told reporters that his visit was aimed at “expansion of Tehran-Ankara relations and settlement of security issues including confrontation with organized crime and activities of the opposition groups.”
Iran and Turkey are two major regional countries interested in bolstering bilateral ties, he added.
"I, as the first Turkish interior minister, at a high security level, want to talk to Iranian senior officials to help further promote cooperation between the two states," he noted.
“Establishment of security in Iran and Turkey will force other regional countries to make efforts to work for the cause of security in the region,” the Turkish minister said.
Another objective of the current trip to Iran, he said, was to determine various avenues for joint cooperation, and ways to combat extraterritorial crimes within the framework of bilateral cooperation – Albawaba.com
