A Tunisian soldier fired on his comrades at a Tunis military base Monday, killing seven soldiers before he was shot dead, Reuters and AFP reported.
Gunfire was heard near a mosque and military base in Tunisia’s capital Monday morning, prompting a nearby school to evacuate its students, said state news agency TAP and a security official.
Tunisia's Interior Ministry said the shooting was "not a terror operation," AFP reported.
Details remain unclear, but security forces in Tunisia have been vigilant since a March attack on the Bardo national museum in which gunmen murdered 22 tourists.
