Tunisian President Ben Ali paid homage to Yasser Arafat Wednesday November 17 at his swearing in ceremony after winning reelection for another five years, 24 October.
Ben Ali expressed great sadness over the loss of the leader of Palestinian people and the symbol of their struggle, according to the Tunisian press. He invited Parliamentarians to observe a minute of silence in respect of Arafat’s memory and to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
He called for the re-injection of life in the peace process, reform in the Arab world and a solution for the quagmire that the Iraqi people face.
