ALBAWABA - Tunisia inaugurated a new parliament Monday, its first since President Kais Saied's July 2021 power grab.
AFP reported that only state television and official media were allowed to cover the session. But Tunisia's private press and foreign journalists were denied access.

The new parliament was picked after two rounds of elections held in December and January. According to sources, voter turnout was more than 11 percent.
The parliament was chosen following the adoption of a new constitution, which gave the president ultimate powers.
The constitution was approved in a national referendum on July 25.
