The Tunisian government has announced the exclusion of the Magasin Général supermarket chain from the nation's privatization program.

At a press conference this week, Tunisian Commerce Minister Tahar Sioud denied rumors regarding that the supermarket chain might go on the block, saying, “it is out of the question.”

Magasin Général CEO Mohsen Laroui was quoted by Upline Securities as saying that “the 43-outlet chain is profitable,” noting that it was already listed on the stock exchange and had a social and economic role to play – Albawaba.com
