ALBAWABA- U.S. President Donald Trump described his recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin as "productive," claiming it led to an agreement for a temporary pause in Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "want to end the war" and confirmed that they had reached an "immediate ceasefire on all energy and infrastructure."

He added that discussions are underway for a "complete ceasefire" and a permanent resolution to the conflict.

“This war would have never started if I were President!” Trump declared, emphasizing that key elements of a potential peace agreement were discussed, including the heavy toll on soldiers. "That process is now in full force, and hopefully, for the sake of humanity, we will get the job done!"

Following the conversation, CNN reported that Putin agreed to temporarily halt Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid.

However, while Trump has pushed for a broader 30-day ceasefire, Putin has so far only committed to this limited pause.

Negotiations are now shifting toward a potential maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea and the framework for a long-term peace deal.
