Trashco, a part of the Suez Environment Group has entered into a MOU with Arab:IT the sole representative in the UAE for US-based Telargo fleet management systems in the UAE. The telemetry solution provides Advanced Vehicle Management Solutions (AVMS) to help fleet managers improve safety, cut carbon emissions and cut costs.
“Trashco has agreed to deploy the ArabIT/Telargo solution for its fleet optimisation, scheduling and remote monitoring of portable compactors to avoid unneeded and costly waste pickups. Arab:IT has provided a more elaborate and more sophisticated tracking solution that is customised to our specific requirements” said Frederic Vigier - Chief Executive Officer –Trashco LLC.
The advanced track and telemetry technology targets strategic projects in areas of public transport, municipality services and FMCG as it allows fleet managers to keep track of vehicles 24 hours a day, seven days a week via a state-of-the-art operations centre, resulting in better fuel consumption and thus lower carbon footprint.
Steve Williams, COO at Trashco, said, “Arab:IT has successfully carried out tests for Trashco over the last 12 months and we believe that we will be able to provide our customers with enhanced services while at the same time making our own internal operations far more efficient.
“There are many other good systems available on the market but until now we have not come across a company that can deliver the after-sales service as well as Arab:IT. This, combined with Arab:IT’s technical competence, understanding of Trashco’s operations and adaptability to tailor make solutions to our requirements made Arab:IT the perfect choice.
“But of far more importance is the other information and control it gives us over our business practices. This is similar to having your ‘eyes in the vehicle’ at all times and this has made an immediate difference to driver behaviour, while being transparent with clients in areas such as hazardous waste transportation ensuring we are conforming to local and international waste disposal regulation and best practice,” added Williams.
Commenting on the agreement, John Bergl, Managing Director at Arab:IT said, “Customers using the Telargo management system receive daily reports on many activities, which can rapidly assist Trashco manage their business.”
The Telargo system, which will be initially fitted into 100 vehicles, also provides performance reports; route and time planning, automated to take into account traffic flow and alerting management if a vehicle runs behind schedule; and the ability to reschedule contractors. The telemetry system also provides an immediate alert if a vehicle makes unauthorised stops along prescribed routes.
“The fact that companies can monitor their vehicles from a central office is not only efficient but also cost effective. The system is so advanced it can even identify and diagnose maintenance issues, as well as the speed and how safely each vehicle has been driven,” added Bergl.
