Toshiba has today announced that it is continuing its development strategy for mobile broadband notebooks, by integrating 3G+/HSDPA mobile communications functions into the Portégé M700, Portégé R500 and Tecra M9 models. This extended offering aims to meet the growing demand from roaming users for mobile broadband communications by optimising the possibilities for network connections whilst on the move. Today, notebooks including a 3G+/HSDPA module represent more than 10% of sales in the professional market and nearly one sale in three of the Toshiba ultra-portable models.
The Portégé M700: concentrating new technologies, aimed at professional users and private individuals alike
The Portégé M700 is a Tablet PC with a back-lit 12-inch LED touch screen (based on the model), with WXGA resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, providing great ease of use and high-quality interactive functions. It has all the advantages of an ultra-portable model with its weight of 1.9 kg and offers autonomy and power.
Equipped with a 3G+/HSDPA module, the Portégé M700 allows you to connect quickly and easily to the Internet by broadband, and to the internal corporate network. It provides a fully integrated mobile solution for professionals wishing to retain access to their data and their e-mail.
The Portégé M700 includes a webcam with 1.3 million pixels, and a microphone allowing you to set up conferences via VoIP at any time.

Availability
These Toshiba notebooks, with 3G+/HSDPA communications functions are available from January 2008 for the Portégé R500 and the Tecra M9. The Portégé M700 will be available in March 2008.
For all the other families of notebook PCs, Toshiba recommends the communications solution 3G+/HSDPA, offered by the Portégé G450 USB Telephone Modem, the ideal complement for roaming users seeking to take advantage of mobile broadband.
