Torex Retail Holdings Limited (Torex™), the leading global provider of innovative, integrated technology solutions to the extended retail marketplace, today announced its strategy for growth in the Middle East by expanding its global presence through building a strong partner network.  Already a global player, Torex has over 20 years experience of the retail sector, boasting over 7,000 customers worldwide with direct operations in 17 countries.
At the same time Torex has reinforced its commitment to its partnership with Headstart to spearhead the promotion of the Torex solution portfolio within the Middle East region. Torex and Headstart will be showcasing Torex™ Retail POS Business Edition (formerly DRS-POS) and for the first time, Torex™ Petroleum & Convenience POS (formerly Lucas-POS) at GITEX Technology Week in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on Stall 821 in Hall 8.
Torex Retail POS Business Edition is a modern POS application ideal for small to medium retailers. It provides complete functionality out-of-the-box including automation of processes and reporting, a modern user interface, international capabilities and support for mixed environments offering both retail and hospitality capabilities. Customers within Middle East who have already made the commitment to the solution include Organics Food and Café (a division of Al Accad), Gourmet station (a division of Landmark Group) and United Fashion Company (a division of UDC – Pearl Qatar).
Torex Petroleum & Convenience POS is an open standards-based POS solution designed specifically to meet the needs of petroleum and convenience retailers, providing them with a flexible and scalable system to meet their customer service requirements. Torex Petroleum & Convenience POS can run on either Windows or Linux, ensuring that retailers can benefit from an open, platform-independent solution that is highly configurable and quick to implement. As it is based on the ARTS Data Model and uses open XML based interfaces, Torex Petroleum & Convenience POS can also integrate with legacy forecourt equipment and payment systems, retail management, merchandising and stock solutions. Many global Petroleum and Convenience retailers are already realising the benefits that the solution can bring.
“Dubai is an important region for Torex and it is key to the growth of the company that we have a presence in the Middle East,” comments Steven Rees-Pullman, Vice President Channels, Torex. “The retail industry in the Middle East is still experiencing growth, in fact, www.retailmiddleeast.com. predicts the industry to reach US $ 500 billion by 2010. This is partially supported by the construction boom in this region, particularly in UAE where a number of shopping complexes and malls are being planned in the coming 2-5 years.”
Speaking about the partnership already in place Sunil Kumar, General Manager, Headstart said, “We have been working with Torex for over a year and during this period we’ve forged a strong business partnership with Torex products that are truly attractive to the Middle East marketplace as they bring competitive edge to retailers. Many Middle Eastern retailers are selecting Torex solutions for their implementations.”
