More than 60 freight executives will gather in Ajman tomorrow for the World Freight Alliance’s (WFA) Annual General Meeting to discuss the most important strategic issues facing the global freight industry today.

Hosted by founding member Aramex, this is the first time the annual meeting will be held in the UAE, underlining the important role that the country is playing within the international logistics industry as a major re-exportation hub and gateway for global commerce.

Taking place 27 and 28 October, keynote speakers participating in the event include Fadi Ghandour, CEO of Aramex, Michael Proffitt, CEO of Dubai Logistics City, and Peter Sedgley, Senior Vice-President Commercial Operations, Emirates Airlines.

Commenting on the forum, Safwan Tannir, Chief Freight Officer of Aramex, said: “Partnerships are key within the freight industry, and the WFA is a catalyst that enables its members to provide a highly competitive service offering to their customers.”

“By working together with the WFA, Aramex has been able to deliver truly global freight service to its customers and we are excited to be working with freight partners who are equally passionate about service excellence,” he added.

The World Freight Alliance is a global network unifying some of the world’s most established organizations in the freight forwarding industry to provide a full range of air, freight and cargo services each in its respective market.

“This WFA meeting will provide an important platform for our members to assess the current climate of the industry and build upon key strategies that will help drive further growth for its members,” said Tommy Kelly, WFA Chairman.

Key stakeholders attending the meeting will initiate dialogue through a series of bilateral sessions under the theme “Forwarding into the Future”, aimed at creating best-of-breed solutions and promoting high-level cooperation within the WFA in a rapidly evolving industry.
