Al-Jazeera has annouced that three of its reporters working in war-torn Yemen are likely to have been kidnapped.

The Qatari news broadcaster reported that Hamdi al-Bokari, Abdulaziz al-Sabri and Moneer al-Sabai were last seen Monday night. The three were reporting for Al-Jazeera's Arabic channel in Taiz, a city located in southern Yemen which has been plagued with scenes of heavy conflict for months.

Mostefa Souag, Al-Jazeera's acting director-general, called for the men's immediate release, in a statement released late Thursday night. He said: "Our colleagues were simply doing their job of reporting the story and informing the world on what is taking place in Yemen."

A Saudi-led coalition has been battling Shia militants known as the Houthis rebels on behalf of Yemen's government since March 2015.
