Thierry henry backing federer for french open

Thierry Henry, one of the three Gillette Champions, has issued a special good luck message to his fellow Champion Roger Federer, ahead of his biggest sporting challenge of 2008, the French Open.

The French Open is the only Grand Slam tournament Federer has never won.  He begins his challenge for the title today.

Thierry Henry makes up one third of the Gillette Fusion Champions, a program featuring three of the world’s best-known and successful athletes – Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Thierry Henry.

Thierry Henry said, “Well first of all I wish Roger all the luck in the world because I think the world is waiting for him to win Roland Garos.  He must be dying to win it and the world is waiting for him to beat Nadal, especially, in the final. I was there this year when they played against each other.  I was at the final and I just thought it was going to be his time, unfortunately it wasn’t. I just hope that he is going to go there with all the things that he knows, relaxed and that he can perform.

“I think everyone wants to see a final against Nadal. Everybody wants Roger to win it.  He is already doing some amazing stuff beating all the records that you can have. But everybody wants him to win Roland Garos.  I’m sure it won’t be easy for him when he arrives there but I think that if he wins it everybody will be so happy and I am sure he will finally be relieved knowing that he has done it.   We’re all just waiting for it to happen.”
