ALBAWABA - The United Nations revealed that it is 'deeply regrets' the deportations of 40 Uyghurs by Thailand authorities.

Earlier, the Chinese authorities confirmed Thursday the deportation of dozens of Uyghurs that dozens of Uyghurs, despite warnings from human rights organizations.

Human rights organizations called on the Bangkok government to halt their deportation due to fears they would face persecution upon return.

AFP reported that Beijing is accused of carrying out abuses against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities. Accusations that China denies.

Rights groups expressed concerns in recent weeks that authorities in Thailand would be sending 48 Uyghurs to China.

On the other hand, the Chinese public security ministry announced on Thursday that 40 Chinese "illegal migrants" had been deported from Thailand "in accordance with... international law".

In addition, Bangkok-based human rights activist Phil Robertson, Director, Asia Human Rights and Labour Advocates (AHRLA) said in a statement: "As each minute passes, it becomes clearer that the Thai government has finally done the unthinkable by forcing at least 40 Uyghurs asylum seekers back to China to face torture in custody, long prison terms, and likely death."

Phil Robertson added: "What's also clear is Thai officials involved in this forced return, using blacked-out trucks and a barrage of lying denials, have the blood of these Uyghur men on their hands."
