Tehran summons Qatari ambassador after Iranian boat '\'attacked'\'

Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned Qatari Ambassador to Tehran Saleh Ibrahim al-Kuwari Saturday night due to an  

attack on an Iranian motor-launch in the Persian Gulf.  

 

According to the Foreign Ministry, Iran expressed its strong protest over the attack which left several Iranians killed or injured, IRNA reported on Sunday. 

 

The ministry called on the ambassador to present his country's explanation and adopt necessary measures to return the launch and its crew.  

 

In addition, Iran asked the Qatari government to introduce and punish those behind the event, accordng to IRNA.  

 

The Iranian ministry also stressed the importance of preventing such incidents in the future which will bear negative impacts on the promotion of bilateral relations.  

 

Al-Kuwari expressed regret over the issue and said he would inform officials of the Qatari government and will announce the results in the earliest time. He also stressed his country's political will to expand relations with Iran, the official agency concluded. (Albawaba.com)
