Source at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday categorically rejected a recent CNN report that Tehran and Washington have agreed to cooperate in the

event the US attack on Iraq.

The source, speaking to IRNA, said no dialogue has taken place between the two countries to discuss any such future cooperation, much less an agreement on any cooperation in case Washington decides to launch a military strike on Baghdad. According to the source, such reports "are but part of the usual psychological warfare employed by the US to mislead world public opinion and distort the official positions of the Islamic Republic on

global issues."

The reports, the source further said, are meant only to aggravate the atmosphere of tension and insecurity in the Middle East. The CNN on Monday reported that US officials have held discussions with Iran for the latter to possibly allow US pilots and crew to bail out in Iranian territory after a battle in neighboring Iraq.
