The International Seminar on Telecommunications (IST 2001) will be held in Tehran September 1-3, announced Iran’s deputy minister of post, telegraph and telephone (PTT) for education, research and
technology affairs, Masood Shafie, on Wednesday.
Shafie told the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, that the goal of the seminar was to provide the participants with the chance to keep updated about the latest findings in the field of telecommunications.
He said the seminar would be unique in terms of the number of foreign delegates attending it, as well as the quality of the presentations.
He added that 150 renowned experts and specialists in the field of telecommunications from 27 countries, including the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Belgium would take part in the seminar.
Some 250 Iranian experts will also attend the meeting.
The secretary of the seminar, Farrokh Marvasti, said educational workshops arranged by foreign instructors for students and participants would be held two days prior to the meeting.
Marvasti said 140 articles are to be presented by foreigners and 60 by Iranian participants.
Cellphones, the internet, optic fibers, satellite, microwave, wave quota, signal processing, telecommunications theory, switching, and telecommunications networks are among topics that will be raised at the meeting – Albawaba.com
