A Conference on "Developing Iran-Arab Cooperation" will be held in Tehran on January 23-26, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Educational and Research Affairs Sadeq Kharrazi told the Iranian official news agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
He said that Qatari University's Research Center for Arab Unity and the Doha-based Center for Research and Strategic Studies held a conference on "Understanding between Iranians and Arabs” in 1995 and that the upcoming conference in Tehran would follow up the topics of the Doha conference.
Kharrazi declared that nine specialized committees will study different topics on the agenda and will put forward the outcome of specialized studies to the general conference. Sadeq Kharrazi added that Iran attaches importance to outlooks of the Arab intellectuals and thinkers.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister announced that intellectuals from Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Kuwait, Syria, Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Libya, and Sudan would take part in the conference adding that Palestinian intellectuals may not take part in Tehran conference due to the restrictions imposed by Israel on them.
The Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) is the sponsor the upcoming conference, said the agency. (Albawaba.com)
