As part of its strategy to enhance its presence in the smaller cities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), leading hard disk drive manufacturer Western Digital (WD), recently held two seminars for resellers in the Saudi city of Al Khobar and the Egyptian city of Alexandria.
The seminars were aimed at enhancing resellers’ awareness about WD as a company and outline a clear local market strategy roadmap. Saudi Arabia and Egypt constitute two of WD’s largest markets in the Middle East region.
The seminars facilitated a closer understanding amongst resellers about the complete range of WD product offerings as well as the introduction of new WD products in 2006. Key customer requirements of the two markets were identified, and strategies to address them discussed.
“Resellers are an integral part of WD’s operations, and we recognize the importance of periodically updating them on our product range and business plans. The seminars allowed resellers in Al Khobar and Alexandria to better appreciate the global standing of WD in the hard drive industry and develop a fuller understanding of WD products’ features and characteristics. At the same time, WD was able to better understand the needs of resellers and customers,” said Hafeez Khawaja, WD’s Senior Regional Director, Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
“The seminars were part of WD’s larger strategy to widen its reach to comprehensively cover the Middle East and Africa market. WD is the first hard drive manufacturer to directly address customers in smaller cities like Al Khobar and Alexandria, which signifies our commitment to the Middle East market,” Khawaja added. “WD is focused on fully servicing customer needs in the region, and is gearing up to address high-potential markets in various cities.”
The Al Khobar seminar drew participation from over 60 resellers, while 110 resellers attended the Alexandria event. WD is planning to extend this program to other countries in the region, and will conduct similar seminars and product training sessions in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia in early 2006.
