For the first time ever, The Els Club in Dubai Sport City hosted the 7th and final UAE qualifier in The 2008 Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge. Usman Mahmood and brother Noman managed to edge out the competition with a superb score of nett 67 to advance to the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge Grand Final. Team So-Safe Water Technologies beat close rivals IRR Middle East, represented by Owen Mills and Graham Wood and Team Q2 Arabia FZ-LLC, represented by Joe Jarrett and Dominic McGill by one shot, both shooting nett 68.
Ayman Mattar, Regional Marketing Manager for Xerox Middle East, commented at the prize presentation, “This was the last qualifier in the UAE and we would like to thank all players and sponsors for their support so far. We especially thank The Els Club for hosting us for the first time, as any other Troon managed Golf Club they do a top job. We would also especially like to congratulate the winning team and wish them all the best in the Grand Final in December.”
At total of 56 teams took part in this 7th qualifier with many local companies represented. Apart from the top 3 teams, five other teams qualified to the Grand Final at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on 13 December: Orange Property, Metso Automation, Bon Café, Reaction and Scott Bader. The winning team from the Grand Final will compete in the Pro-am prior to the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship – one of the flagship PGA European Tour events held in Abu Dhabi in January 2009.
The last qualifiers will be held in Bahrain on December 6th. To register a team simply visit www.xeroxgolfchallenge.com. Entries will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis and waitlisted if qualifying rounds reach full capacity.
