The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz said Saturday that no Arab stance towards the developments in Palestine and towards the Palestinian people's jihad (Islamic holy war), other than Iraq's stand, has been adopted. "The Arab states are only standing idly by and watching what is happening on the Palestinian arena," he stressed. Aziz made these comments on the sidelines of the opening of the 17th session of the Al-Mirbad poetry festival.
On the projected US attack on Iraq, the deputy prime minister conveyed “the United States always launches aggression against many states under different pretexts and excuses. It is up to it if it wants to attack Iraq again. However, such action will be rejected by the entire world because it is unjustified and illegal. There is no reason for initiating such an action.” (Albawaba.com)
