tanmia delegation visits kuwait to exchange ideas and best practices on workforce nationalisation

Visit highlights Tanmia’s pivotal role in furthering emiratisation process in the UAE

A high-level delegation from Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, recently visited Kuwait to study the working of the Program for Workforce Restructuring and Executive Body in Kuwait. This visit falls in line with Tanmia’s strategy of exchanging experiences and best practices with other governments and organisations related to human resource development in the GCC countries, with an underlying goal of furthering the emiratisation process in the UAE.

The visit also focused on identifying various areas pertaining to workforce nationalisation and manpower training, including recruitment process in the private sector through the use of the labour market information system, the role of the small business sector in promoting nationalisation, and encouraging the growth of the sector across the region. The Tanmia delegation also discussed ways to best utilise the funds allocated for nationalisation initiatives.

The delegation also met with the Secretary General of the Workforce Restructuring Program to know more about the policies and regulations introduced by the Kuwaiti government to regulate the human resource sector, while also discussing the challenges in the nationalisation process in the UAE and Kuwait. The Tanmia team also visited the customer service center to find out details of its working and to study the use of electronic systems in the department. In addition, the visit included a meeting with select recruitment managers in Kuwait to learn more about the HR policies adopted to maximise employment of nationals in the workforce, especially in the private sector.

The visit also integrated listening to a foreign guidance session at the Australian College in Kuwait, as well as learning about management training through identification of systems and policies of work evaluation, and training requirements for the labor force in Kuwait. Training of job-seekers to develop their skills commensurately with the labor market requirements, training staff to develop their skills and to gain experience, designing specialized training programs and identifying the mechanism of cooperation with the private sector in the field of training and human resource development were some of the topics in focus.

The Tanmia delegation also went through the activities of academic media to identify training programs specialized in the field of media. They also visited the legal management department, which works towards providing legal support to all units of the program and handles responsibilities such as making legislative amendments, proposing new legislation to strengthen and direct the national manpower to the private sector, and amending the laws on insurance for the purpose of introducing the concept of unemployment insurance. The delegation concluded their Kuwait tour by visiting the center for information systems to know more about the electronic link between the program of restructuring and the state bodies involved in the process of recruitment.
