Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia on Saturday ordered all foreigners to leave the country amid fears of a retaliatory US military strike, officials said.
A statement issued by the foreign ministry said the United States intended to use the presence of Osama bin Laden as a pretext for an attack.
"In view of the current situation all foreign nationals are therefore asked to leave Afghanistan temporarily," the statement said.
It reiterated the Taliban's view that US suspicions that bin Laden was involved in terrorist attacks on New York and Washington were baseless -- KABUL (AFP)
