Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Association (TWMA), the umbrella organization for Taiwan’s woodworking machinery companies, is currently participating at the ‘Dubai WoodShow 2010’ with aims to explore opportunities for its members and encourage greater trade with the Middle East region’s wood and timber industry. The move follows a recent mandate by the association, which has identified the Middle East as an integral element of its global marketing strategy.

The TWMA, which boasts of more than 270 members that account for more than 90 per cent of Taiwan’s woodworking machinery companies, is hosting six of its member companies including Kao Jen, SK Machinery, Kuang Yung, Yuan Lung, Innovator and Gesong. Participation at the Middle East’s only wood-focused exhibition marks the association’s strong commitment to implement its new three-fold strategy; modernizing the industry, creating a more aggressive marketing and R&D section and to reach out to a wider international market.

“The Taiwanese woodworking machinery industry has become one of Taiwan’s most enduring and lucrative segments. However, through the years, a lot of changes have been made and introduced to make the business stronger and profitable. We have now moved from being a traditional comparative profit seeking industry to a more competitive seeking environment,” said Adlake Liu, Vice Secretary General, TWMA. “Participating in this year’s ‘Dubai WoodShow 2010’ gives us the opportunity to establish ourselves in the Middle East region - create new partnerships and business opportunities that not only seek to bring more business activity to the association but also strengthens the trade ties between our countries.”
