Syrian government forces killed 39 civilians, including 17 children, in airstrikes against rebel-held areas in northern Syria, reports AFP.
Airstrikes targeted three adjacent villages in southern Aleppo around 15 kilometers (10 miles) from the main highway south towards the capital, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told AFP.
Eight siblings were among those killed in the attacks. Dozens of civilians were also injured.
Just days earlier, the Syrian government allegedly dropped a barrel bomb in Aleppo, killing upwards of 20 civilians and wounding 30 others.
The attack came one week after Amnesty International released a report accusing the Syrian government of "crimes against humanity" for intentionally conducting airstrikes on civilian areas of Aleppo.
Upwards of 220,000 people have been killed in Syria since the start of the conflict in March 2011.
