Syrian anti-government forces have taken the historical town of Bosra al-Sham, located near the Jordanian border, reports AFP.

The victory for the rebels comes after several days of clashes with government forces.

Bosra, located in Daraa district, is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

In Febuary of this year, a Syrian government airstrike on Daraa killed twelve civilians and injured 25 others.
