Syrian rebel groups said Wednesday that they would reject peace talks scheduled to take place later this month without the implementation of humanitarian articles in the most recent UN resolution, Reuters reported.
The various militant groups, which include the Jaish al-Islam, specifically noted articles 12 and 13 in the resolution, which was passed last year and calls for all groups to allow humanitarian access to cities under siege.
The next round of peace talks are slated to begin on Jan. 25.
More than half of Syria's pre-war population of 22.4 million people have been internally displaced or forced to flee their homeland, creating the largest refugee crisis since World War II.
