Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received Monday US senators Joseph Baden and Chuck Hagel.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara and the US Ambassador to Syria, Theodore Katouf.
During the meeting, talks focused on current regional issues, especially those related to Iraq and the Israeli-Arab conflict, according to SANA.
The president stressed that the peoples in the region are concerned with regards to US policies, which “pursue priorities different... from the peoples’ interests and aspirations”, thus increasing the anger at US policy.
The American senators, on their part, underlined the necessity for the intensification of dialogue and understanding, in order to face fanaticism, SANA concluded. (Albawaba.com)
