Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad stressed on Tuesday the importance of dialogue with the United States on regional matters.
This confirmation came during al-Assad’s meeting with visiting US Senator Bob Graham. Syria’s foreign minister Farouk al-Sharaa also attended the meeting.
A statement released by the presidential palace said the talks focused on objectives of the congressional team's tour in the Arab region and the need to get the team acquainted with the area, in addition to a discussion of regional issues, KUNA reported.
According to the statement, President al-Assad emphasized the need to activate dialogue with Washington, stressing that any dialogue should emerge from mutual respect. With regards to the peace process, Assad said that his country sticks to peace and to the return of every iota of its occupied territories to national sovereignty. (Albawaba.com)
