Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Wednesday issued a decree amnestying conscript deserters and certain categories of convicted felons including smugglers.
SANA news agency reported that deserters would be included in the amnesty if they gave themselves up within a period of three months of the date when the decree was published.
The amnesty also covers those jailed for crimes committed before June 10 linked to smuggling except for drug and arms. It provides sentence reductions for persons convicted of financial offences. (Albawaba.com)
