ALBAWABA - The Military Operations Department in Syria announced, on December 8, the fall of the regime of former President Bashar Assad after a revolution that broke out in 2011.
Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali called on all Syrians today to preserve the state's public property saying it belongs to all Syrians. In a speech broadcast on social media, al-Jalali said: "Oh dear Syrians, of whom I am a part and you are a part, I am in my home and have not left it because of my affiliation and my lack of knowledge of any other country."
He continued: "I am here in my home, and I do not intend to leave it except in a peaceful manner so that I can ensure the continuity of public institutions and state facilities, and spread security and reassurance to citizens. I hope that everyone will think rationally and patriotically."
On the other hand, Ahmed al-Sharaa, nicknamed al-Julani, the head of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and commander of the Syrian opposition’s military operations, issued an appeal that read: "To all military forces in the city of Damascus, it is strictly forbidden to approach public institutions, which will remain under the supervision of the former prime minister (al-Jalali) until they are officially handed over. It is also forbidden to fire bullets in the air."
After the battles that began on November 27 with the regime forces in several areas of the country, the Syrian opposition factions were able to take control of the capital Damascus today, Sunday, and force the Syrian regime president, Bashar Assad, to flee the country, thus ending a dark era in Syria's history and beginning a new era.
