Talks between Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Syrian President Bashar Assad Monday focussed on “the efforts exerted to make the upcoming Arab summit a success, and to harmonize Arab positions pertaining the
developments in the Palestinian territories and the challenges facing the Arab nation,” reported the Jordanian News Agency Petra.
The two leaders discussed in Damascus the initiative of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to fullfil peace in the Middle East. They affirmed the importance of Israel's response to this initiative and to stop use of force.
King Abdullah II and President Assad stressed “the importance of intensifying efforts and international endeavours to end the policy of military escalation and Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people,” Petra added.
The discussions focussed also on the Iraqi issue, where the two leaders reaffirmed their positions rejecting the attempts to target Iraq and harm its territorial integrity and soverignity. (Albawaba.com)
