A Syrian foreign ministry official source denied on Sunday what was reported by the London-based al Hayat daily in which it was reported that the Foreign Ministry Legal Advisor, Riyad Dawoodi, had reached an agreement with head of the International Investigation Commission, Detlev Mehlis during a meeting in Beirut regarding the venue of the interrogation of Syrian officials, including the Foreign Minister, and mechanism of interrogation.
The source said that Mehlis refused to discuss the suggestion to carry out the investigation in Syria or under the umbrella of the Arab League in Cairo, while Resolution 1636 does not mean that the investigation should be carried out outside Syria, SANA said.
The source added that it is clear al Hayat report from New York, was attributed to unreliable sources.
