Syrian army troops ambushed and killed 62 Syrian rebels near Damascus on Wednesday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
According to Syrian military sources loyal to tyrant Syrian President Bashar Assad, those killed were members of Al Qaeda linked Al Nusra front, AFP reported.
"At least 62 rebels fell as martyrs, most of them youths, and eight others are missing after an ambush by regime forces at dawn near the industrial city of Adra," the Observatory told AFP.
Adra lies 22 miles northeast of Damascus and has been a rebel stronghold since the conflict in Syria broke out in 2011.
Quoted by the Syrian state news agency, a member of the Syrian army said that the military "carried out an ambush on a group of terrorists belonging to the Al-Nusra Front that was trying to infiltrate Eastern Ghuta and attack a military post."
"All the terrorists were killed and their arms captured," the source added, according to AFP.
