Syrian rockets land in eastern Lebanon

At least two rockets from inside Syria have reportedly landed in the eastern Lebanese border town of Hermel.

According to reports on Wednesday, the rockets landed near the Hermel Public Hospital. No reports of casualties have been made.

This comes a day after the Lebanese army sent its forces to the country’s eastern border with Syria to contain violence in the region.

On March 17, three rockets were launched from inside Syria and landed in residential areas of Labweh town in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.

Last week, a number of rockets from Syria also hit a village in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, leaving at least three people injured.

Lebanon has been affected by the spillover of the Syrian conflict, with its north being the epicenter of fierce clashes between supporters and opponents of the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad.

Syria has been the scene of deadly violence since March 2011. Over 140,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the turmoil.

The rocket attack comes days after nearly one dozen people were killed in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli in clashes between supporters and opponents of the Syrian government.
